The Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (National Research University) (MIPT), also known as Phystech, is a leading Russian university for training specialists in the field of theoretical, experimental and applied physics, mathematics, computer science, chemistry, biology and related disciplines. Most of the university buildings are located in the city of Dolgoprudny (5 km from Moscow). Several buildings of the university are located in the city of Zhukovsky (40 km from Moscow) and in the capital itself.

 

MIPT is a technical university of Russia, not only according to the achievements of scientists and graduates, but also high positions in international and national rankings. In the general rankings of the best universities in the world by Times Higher Education and Quacquarelli Symonds, MIPT ranks first among technical universities in Russia.

 

MIPT is one of the 50 best universities in the world in natural sciences and the 100 best in computer science. Participant of the 5-100 Project, aimed at increasing the prestige of Russian higher education at the world level.

 

Training of students in the specialty at MIPT is traditionally carried out directly by researchers of the basic institutes and individually with each student. These are institutes, research centers where students are engaged in scientific work and write diplomas on the new technical equipment of these institutions. Upon graduation, the student must possess modern methods of theoretical and experimental research, have sufficient engineering knowledge to solve modern technical problems.

 

There are 6 phys-tech schools in the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. Currently, most students study in the direction of Applied Mathematics and Physics, specialists are also trained in the areas of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, Computer Science and Computer Engineering, Computer Security, System Analysis and Management, Technical Physics and Biotechnology.
