North-Western State Medical University named after I. I. Mechnikov

The North-Western State Medical University named after I. I. Mechnikov was established on October 12, 2011 as a result of the merger of two of the oldest educational medical institutions in Russia – the St. Petersburg Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education and the St. Petersburg State Medical Academy named after I. I. Mechnikov.

 

The University's activities are based on close interaction and coordination of educational, clinical and research activities - this allows us to train competent specialists who possess modern knowledge and are able to apply it in practice.


Research work at the University is carried out in accordance with the current trends in the development of medical and biological sciences, considerable attention is paid to conducting research in the field of health protection and sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the population. The training is conducted in RUSSIAN.

 

There are preparatory courses for foreign citizens.

 

When studying at the preparatory course, foreign citizens study the Russian language, and in preparation for admission to the university, they also study natural science subjects.

 

The training is carried out according to the following additional general education programs:

"Preparation for admission to the University":

- Full-time education from November 01 to August 31 (including vacation time).

- Full-time and part-time education with the use of distance educational technologies from November 01 to June 30.

"Russian language for foreign citizens planning to study in residency and postgraduate studies":

- Full-time education from November 01 to August 31 (including vacation time).

- Full-time and part-time education with the use of distance educational technologies from November 01 to June 30.

If it is necessary to stay in the dormitories of the University, visa-free foreign citizens arriving in St. Petersburg, on the day of arrival or the next day, must report to the Department of visa support and migration registration of the University, at the address: St. Petersburg, Piskarevsky Ave., 47, building No. 32, office No. 12 and No. 13, to provide original documents.

 

The working hours of the visa support and Migration Accounting department of the University are:
Mon., Tue., Wed., Thu., Fri. - from 9:00 am to 17:00 pm;
Sat., Sun. - day off.
Check-in to the hostel takes place at the above time.

 

The hostel, designed for foreign students, is located on the territory of the University.
The dormitory building is a detached 9-storey building built according to a standard project and put into operation in 1979.
There is a pass regime in the hostel, the security of the residents is carried out by employees of the University's checkpoint department, round-the-clock video surveillance is conducted along the outer perimeter of the building.

 

The block-type dormitory includes 32 blocks (8-9 rooms per block), 248 living rooms (with 2-4-bed accommodation), isolated rooms, access directly to the corridor of the block.

 

Each unit has a kitchen (equipped with 2 gas stoves and 2 sinks), a washroom (equipped with 4 sinks and 2 showers), 3 toilets.
The residents of the hostel are provided with furniture and bedding.
Bed linen is changed once every 10 days (free of charge).
For washing personal belongings in the hostel there is a laundry room equipped with 5 household washing machines and 1 dryer. Washing and drying of personal items in the laundry is paid.

 

Cleaning of common areas and other premises, with the exception of residential rooms, is carried out by room cleaners. Cleaning of residential premises is the responsibility of residents.

 

The student canteen is located in the neighboring building, there is no catering point directly in the dormitory building.


The hostel has a room for self-preparation for classes.


Foreign students studying on a commercial basis pay for accommodation in a hostel:


The cost of living per month is 2,900 rubles.
Students of the 1st-6th year pay for living in a hostel for a semester (6 months) - 17,400 rubles or (optional) for a year (12 months) -34,800 rubles.
